I need advice for a client

We provide advice on a second-tier basis, that is, to other advice agencies and lawyers who are assisting individuals. For example, a homeless EU migrant might have problems showing that she has a right to reside, but may have other problems as well. We can provide written advice on the right-to-reside issue; a homelessness charity can use that advice to advocate on her behalf to show that she meets the other criteria to get housing or homelessness assistance.

We can also help take appeals to the Immigration and Social Security First Tier Tribunals, and to the Upper Tribunal, on issues relating to EU law.

Our expertise is on the following issues:

  • EU free movement law, including the residence rights of EU migrant citizens and their family members and their right to access benefits;
  • EU asylum law and The European Convention on Human Rights (particularly issues related to detention and ill treatment, children's rights, cross-border criminal justice, trafficking/forced labour and the rule of law); and
  • International protection instruments, such as the UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child and 1951 Refugee Convention.

We are currently running projects on domestic violence and human trafficking, EEA Women in Prison, and EEA migrant homelessness. We particularly encourage you to get in touch with us if you have cases falling in these categories and would like to discuss them with us.

If you want to get advice from us, you can email us at [email protected] or call us on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10.30am and 6pm on 020 7831 4276. We won't be able to give advice over the telephone. We will take down the details of the advice request and get back to you on whether we can assist. If we can assist with a request we would aim to respond within two to three weeks. In urgent cases we might be able to respond more quickly.
